In the modern era, more and more people, especially children are starting to develop some kind of an allergy. They can go from the easiest one that can cause a person sneeze to the ones that are life threatening. One may wonder why would be discussed since it is a metal and not commonly used. Well that is wrong. Nickel is a commonly used metal in jewel production and furnishing. It is used as a cheaper solution to gold and diamonds. Furthermore, some other things have it, like buttons, frames for glasses etc. so it is everywhere.
This type of a material is used in a lot of products, such as gloves. Condoms etc. The latex gloves are used in kitchen, and condoms, well… This type of allergy can be detected by red skin, the eyes can become itchy or there can be vomiting.
Hair Dye and Henna Tattoos
The hair dying can be also be an allergy trigger since PDD can cause severe allergies since it is found in the products for permanent hair dying. Furthermore, PDD is used in henna tattoos, and this is the reason why those are allergy triggers as well.
Poison Ivy, Oak and Sumac
The problematic substance here is urushiol, which is a kind of a poison that triggers allergic reactions. It can be found in the above plants and weeds. The reaction to this allergy causes blisters and hives if it is severe or a rash and redness if it is mild. There are two ways of triggering this allergy: you touching some of these or touching an animal that has been playing in these weeds. The easiest types of allergy reactions from these can be treated by cool water.
There are a lot of people who are allergic to wool and they thus cannot made clothes, scarves, caps or gloves made of wool. The problem is that the allergy is triggered by the mere texture of the fabric and formaldehyde resins. This is most evident in rashes or the skin that is burning.
Cosmetics, Creams and Ointments
Cosmetics has become one of the most payable industries and is used worldwide. However, it is one of the biggest allergy triggers. The problem is not only in scents and fragrances that cosmetic products have but also in some preservatives that are used in products’ manufacturing. Some of the ingredients that cause allergies from cosmetic products are: formaldehyde, parabens, and thimerosal.
Some people are allergic to neomycin, the substance used for creating creams and ointments for healing cuts and similar. This substance is also used in the production of pain relief medicaments and eye drops.
Every person that goes to the seaside knows that skin protection is important and he/she uses different sun protection creams and oils in order to protect one’s skin. However, even these can create allergies. This is called a photocontact allergy. The most common ones that trigger allergies are: benzophenones, oxybenzone, salicylates, and cyclohexanol.
Adhesives and House Products
Even though they are needed in every household, some house products can cause allergies. Some of these include solvents and adhesives. The most common of them being – glue. The allergy is to a substance called cyanoacrylate.
